ALTA VISTA
20079 Stone Oak Pkwy (at Hardy Oak Blvd)
Perched on a hill at the northeast corner of Hardy Oak Boulevard and Stone Oak Parkway is the Alta Vista shopping center. Each store and office space opens up to large windows, the use of these windows possibly inspired by the breathtaking and unobstructed views seen from the center. Rolling hills begin immediately to the east of these buildings and continue into the distance filled with trees, gorgeous Stone Oak residences, and finally the sunset and beyond. Composed of three buildings, the center is sleek and modern yet still pays tribute to an architectural element common in the Stone Oak community — the use of stone, such as limestone. Staircases, windows, and roof projections are a light gray metal giving the building an airy, streamlined look. If you want to take full advantage of Alta Vista's views, take a seat at Aldaco's Mexican Cuisine, a restaurant and cantina nestled behind the main two-story building. From there you will be able to enjoy fresh and flavorful Mexican dishes with a stunning view. Across from Alta Vista is one of Stone Oak's well-known landmarks, the Mormon Temple. Accentuating the temple's place on the hill is a statue of the Angel Moroni, giving Alta Vista yet another exceptional sight to see. Appropriately situated across from the church at Alta Vista is Temple View LDS Books and Gifts. Whether you are picking up bread for dinner at Great Harvest or doing your daily workout at Anytime Fitness, take the time to appreciate the unique design of Alta Vista and the views that give the center its name. At this center: UPS Store, Temple View LDS Books & Gifts, Great Harvest Bread Company, Vinpearl Nail & Spa, Subway, Anytime Fitness, Aldaco's Mexican Cuisine
SHOPS AT HARDY OAK
19903 Stone Oak Pkwy (at Hardy Oak Blvd)
After you pass the Mormon Temple on Stone Oak Parkway and Hardy Oak Boulevard heading west, you begin your descent down the hill on which the temple resides. At the northwest corner of the intersection, a large dip occurs and at the base of the slope are the Shops at Hardy Oak. The landscaping and the design of the center's buildings are modest, giving the area a clean appearance. Although this particular intersection can get busy during rush hour, the noise surprisingly dissipates once you are downhill and in the shopping center. While you wait to pick up your dry cleaning at Pilgrim Cleaners, get your hair and nails done at Image Makers Hair Studio and Alamo Nail & Spa, respectively. On your way out, be sure to find a great deal on a bottle or two at Thrifty Liquor. If you'd rather go out for a drink, come back and visit Graffiti Lounge & Café, a local bar tucked into the corner of where the two buildings meet. Want to feel stronger? THE SHOPS OF STONE OAK

Conveniently located in Downtown Stone Oak near the corner of Stone Oak Parkway and Huebner Road, The Shops of Stone Oak provides a cheerful environment for its customers and has much to offer. Big arches greet customers at the entrance of each business and can also be found in the shape of the huge windows at some stores. A clean and pristine impression is created by the buildings' beige exterior with accents of black on their awnings and on some of the signs, including the sign at the entrance. The same stone used at the entrance is also found welcoming visitors at the doorways of individual businesses. A stone faÇade frames some of the doors and peaks above the rest of the shopping center, giving the complex a bit of character. Aside from its prime location, a diverse selection of businesses gives shoppers of all ages plenty of reasons to visit Stone Oak Crossing. Similar to a small village, the center is composed of several separate buildings arranged in a manner that draws you away from the street and into another realm. Instead of a typical center with businesses lined up side-by-side and facing traffic, Stone Oak Crossing's configuration is conducive to parking and strolling from building to building to find what you need. For a quick bite, Firehouse Subs is right at one of the entrances off Stone Oak Parkway and offers hot subs and award-winning chili. Most of us always need to keep our eyes open for gifts, and one of the most popular and charming gift shops in Stone Oak, Janie Christine's, happens to be at Stone Oak Crossing. A combination of brick, beige, and hints of sage gives The Plaza at Concord Park its upscale look, a reflection of its surroundings on Sonterra Boulevard, just seconds away from The Club at Sonterra. Facing the street are entrances to FexEx Kinko's, Blimpie, WineStyles, and Interior Ideas, but there are also entrances on the other side of the building facing a secluded courtyard — a hidden gem for shoppers looking for a relaxing shopping experience. The entrance to Tresca, one of the center's most prominent features, is tucked away but it's hard to miss its large, rust-colored sign sitting on the corner of Sonterra Boulevard and Sigma Road. A haven for contemporary Italian cuisine with a lounge-like bar, Tresca offers Stone Oak residents a fine dining experience and occupies a large portion of the center's courtyard with outdoor seating. Two other buildings surround the courtyard and offer a music center, gift and stationary store, and health and beauty services.
